Fiona Apple - Across The Universe

Fiona Apple 1

To pick up where I left my opinion on against war, I would like to share with you guys a beautiful song by Fiona Apple - Across The Universe. This song was originally performed by The Beatles in the album "Let It Be". Siobhan Magnus from American Idol season 9 also sang this song once. The lyric and music are well mixed and produced a comforting feeling like you have when you're a kid and before going to bed, where your mum or dad assure you that the world won't be changed when you wake up tomorrow. Sigh. I missed all those innocent and simple yet fun times when I was little. Do you?

Meanwhile, I when I was making the Free Palestine post, I searched for few poems on war; I found quite a lot! Although later, I changed my mind and decided that I won't attach any poem in that post since it will be too long. This is one of my favorite piece. One of the Seven Poems On The Gulf War:

In the school
I was taught the Song of Peace
And not the Song of War.

In the school
I was taught to play carom
And not the tricks of war.

In the school
I was taught the lesson of hard work
And not the one of cheating.

In the school
I had taken a vow to serve people
And not to kill the innocent.

Were my teachers wrong
In imparting me such an education?

Perhaps, they were.
Therefore, their lessons
Could not be used
And
I and my country
Lost the war.

Then, where should I
Send my son for schooling
To my alma mater
Or
To the Camper’s school?

Fiona Apple - Across The Universe video and lyric below:

[Written by John Lennon & Paul McCartney]

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind,
Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru de va om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they
Tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing
Through my open ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a
million suns and calls me on and on
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Jai guru deva [Repeat to fade]
