The Buzz


This is the most talked about movie in Malaysia right now; even though 80% of it is bad. 2 Alam was drowned by the cockiness of the producer, Dr Rozmey. Some of his statements:
Dr Rozmey 2 Alam
Opening day said to collect RM 2 Million
Boosted about the RM 40 Million estimated box office
1. 2 Alam will collect RM 40 million at the box office (5 times the highest grossing Malaysian movie)
2. It will be shown in all 700 screens in the country
3. Cinema operators will postpone Harry Potter The Deathly Hallows Part 1 to make away to 2 Alam

Other OMG-what-do-you-think-you’re-doing things he did:

Dr Rozmey 2 Alam
Claimed that 2 Alam will be shown in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei

1. Announced that he did not need media to promote his movie after media criticized his movie as “trash and waste of time and money”
2. The poster of 2 Alam featured himself and his production house
3. Went to a solo promotional tour signing autographs and taking photos with fans

Synopsis


"2 Alam" is about a transsexual named Amy, previously known as Adam bin Zainal, who commits suicide and whose body is brought back to his village for burial. While prepping his body for burial according to Islamic customs, strange incidents begin to arise.

My Review


Yes, I went to watch the movie yesterday. I try to keep an open mind without letting Dr. Rozmey haughty claims to cloud my mind. These are what I came out with:

1. The soundtracks used are good, but the sound effects are too much and sometimes at unnecessary scenes just to evoke pointless suspense
2. The makeups are way too much; even for the male actors! You can see clearly the different between the white face and the darker shades on neck
3. I can see the moral of the story very clearly. The message of the movie is projected well; changing what God’s gift to you is against in Islam. 2 Alam also touch on social problems in the society today; drinking alcohols and commit suicide
4. Even though the message is quite clear, the storyline is too simple and scenes were wasted by extended redundant flashbacks
5. The actors did their acting well; pardon all their makeup

At the end of the day, the movie did stir up your conscience and trigger your remorse. And for that, I gave the movie 2.5 stars. For the first baby from DR Movie Production, it is not a (totally) bad lemon after all. The movie most probably will sell better if not be drowned by the cockiness of Dr. Rozmey. In the end, he killed his own movie.

P/S: I can't wait to watch the next movie from Dr. Rozmey. He mentioned that he wants Pamela Anderson to be in his next film. I am sure it will pull together another box office miracle.

She's hot, she has her own clothing line, she's rich (daughter of AmBank Group chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim), she's a former hip-hop MC (Teh Tarik Crew) and now a R&B star. Oh and she is Malaysian! What is not to love? With her super sexy image - some lambasted her since she's a Muslim, she turned out to be more than the pretty face.

Growing up, Nina was influenced by many of the great 1980s and 90s American hip-hop acts, including the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, The Roots and Lauryn Hill of The Fugees. At university, she started to perform underground hip-hop gigs before forming her own group. “I was very much a fan of hip-hop during my school years and then I met the members of Teh Tarik Crew at college,” she says. I believe, most if not all people in Malaysia know Siti Nurhaliza by now. Siti Nurhaliza has been a singing sensation since she was 16 years-old. Anyway, if you don’t know her, this is a quick snack of what you should know about Siti Nurhaliza:

  • She has sold more than 3 million albums in Malaysia and Indonesia
  • Her wedding Datuk Sri Khalid Muhammad Jiwa was televised to 6.3 million viewers nationwide with 10 Indonesian representatives to capture the moment
  • She has received more than 100 awards locally and internationally including three Malaysian Book of Records (First Malaysian artiste to perform a solo concert at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall (2205), Most Awards Won Artiste – 112 awards (2004) and Most Awards Won Artiste – 52 awards (2001))
  • Her list of awards has to be put in a different page in Wikipedia since it is too long

If anyone care to know my take on Siti Nurhaliza, well, for me she is a good singer, a kind person and business minded individual. Am I a big fan of her? Nope. Am I listening to all her songs? I don't think so. Do I hate her? I honestly believe no one is deserving of any hatred of any kind just because that person is beautiful, rich and has a talent and use it to her own benefits. No. So, what do you think of Siti Nurhaliza?

SEREMBAN – Artis terkenal yang juga vokalis kumpulan Spin, Abdillah Murad Md. Shari atau lebih dikenali sebagai Achik Spin, 28, meninggal dunia dalam satu kemalangan ngeri di KM 14 Lebuh Raya Kajang Seremban Sdn. Bhd. (Lekas) dekat sini petang ini.

Allahyarham, yang berada di dalam kenderaan pelbagai guna (MPV) yang terbabas dan terbakar, meninggal dunia di tempat kejadian.

Pada masa ini, polis dan anggota bomba masih lagi berada di lokasi nahas dan difahamkan mayat Allahyarham akan dibawa ke Hospital Tuanku Jaafar di sini malam ini.

Pegawai Turus Trafik negeri, Asisten Supritendan Polis (ASP) Abd. Halil Abd. Hamzah mengesahkan kejadian tersebut.

Evolusi KL Drift 2 – Terlampau Bromance

Semalam, Bluecrystaldude bersama teman-teman sempat meluangkan masa menonton KL Drift 2 di panggung wayang di Sunway Carnival, Seberang Prai, Pulau Pinang. Secara keseluruhannya, cerita tersebut agak menarik, diselang seli dengan aksi drifting dan aksi pergaduhan yang nampak real. Oh dan poster Evolusi KL Drift 2 dapat menarik perhatian pengunjung wayang.

Walau bagaimanapun, Bluecrystaldude amat tidak menggemari Syamsul Yusof. Pada pendapat saya, seorang pengarah filem tidak sepatutnya memberikan watak utama kepada diri beliau sendiri. Kalau sudah pun kemaruk sangat nak berlakon, ambillah watak sampingan yang kurang impaknya di dalam cerita, seperti yang dilakukan oleh David Teo.

Sekiranya anda memang ingin menunjukkan kehebatan anda berlakon, cuba cari filem yang bukan dibuat oleh anda atau bapa anda. Tidak ada salahnya berlakon di dalam filem sendiri, tapi hendaklah berpada-pada. James Cameroon pun tidak berlakon dalam filem Avatar.

Setelah ketidaksukaan terhadap Syamsul Yusof ditolak ketepi, Evolusi KL Drift 2 banyak memperbaiki kesilapan filem yang pertama. Antara komen-komen yang didengar pada filem pertama adalah aksi driff yang dilakukan di atas lebuhraya yang kosong dan aksi pergaduhan yang nampak kaku dan tidak real. Evolusi KL Drift 2 sedikit sebanyak dibina bagi mengatasi kelemahan kelemahan ini. Kudos atas pemilihan watak antagonis yang spot on serta aksi drift yang dapat menarik minat penonton.

Evolusi KL Drift 2, Drifting
Filem ini dilingkari dengan persoalan persahabatan antara dua watak iaitu Sham, lakonan Farid Kamil dan Zack lakonan Syamsul Yusof. Persahabatan yang terlampau akrab ditonjolkan di dalam filem ini ada ketikanya nampak terlampau “bromantic”. Rasa macam gay couple pun ada. Haha.

Pelakon-pelakon lain seperti Scha al-Yahya dan Aaron Aziz sangat menonjol dengan watak masing-masing. Watak-watak antagonis yang berbahasa Mandarin dan berbahasa Melayu seperti masyarakat Cina Malaysia juga layak dipuji.

Konklusinya, Evolusi KL Drift 2 mempunyai aksi-aksi yang menarik, dibantu oleh para pelakon yang berkaliber yang dapat menutupi jalan cerita yang sederhana. Bluecrystaldude memberi Evolusi KL Drift 2 3.5 bintang!

Malaysia celebrates National Days on August, 31st each year, which actually was the date of Malaya or states of the Peninsular independence declaration made by Tunku Abdul Rahman. Malaysia was formed when Sabah and Sarawak united to the nation on 16th September 1963. Singapore was a part of Malaysia at the beginning, however on 9th August 1965, Singapore seceded from the federation and became an independent republic.

Whether its August 31st or September 16th, I think as Malaysian, both are important dates to remember. Despite the things you may disagree or dislike, after all Malaysia is a nice place to live, thus I think we should be thankful to what we have, be proud and love our own country.
