Wanted

>> MOVIE REVIEW

Don't mess with her, seriously

What It Is About
Okay, I have to admit that I went to see the movie, Wanted just because I am hoping Angelina Jolie will make a scene such as in Beawolf where she appears naked - digitally or so as they said. And it seems I am not wasting anytime watching this action pack movie.

Genre
Adaptation, Action, Adventure, Supernatural

Rating
R for strong bloody violence throughout, pervasive language and some sexuality

Running Time
1 hour 48 minutes

Director
Timur Bekmambetov

Cast:
James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, Terence Stamp, Thomas Kretschmann

Synopsis
About Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) who really live up to be a pathetic man. His best friend fucks his girlfriend, his big fat and psychology torturer master always boil up his temper, low bank account and he thought he always has panic attacks (which is actually due to his heart that pumping 400 times per minute). Then, the damn hot Fox (Angelina Jolie) came to tell him that his-left-when-I-was-a-kid father has died. Thus, Wesley was asked to join the Fraternity - a group of assassins answering to a supernatural authority - which basically a textile machine driven by 'fate' and being trained to become as good as his father as a superstar assassin. In order to store back the order of fate and preserve the Fraternity, Wesley discover a secret that Sloan (the Fraternity chief - Morgan Freeman) were hiding. Finally he needs to decide who he want to become - a assassin or an accountant behind the cubicle.

Worst Of It
  • As I stated earlier, I went to see Wanted just to watch Angelina Jolie in actions. Guiding by an amazing trailer and poster (that has picture of Angelina Jolie half of it), I accidently was brought to believe that the main character is actually Angelina Jolie. Which is not, the main character in the movie is actually James McAvoy who plays Wesley Gibson's character. Nevertheless, Angelina sure stole the most of the movie poster and trailer. I felt cheated!
  • Okay, who actually stupid enough to follow orders from a textile machine (fate and destiny came along the line) to murder people? Before long we will all be following orders from fax machine, blinking of street lamps and the any misspelled by printed newspaper.

What Likely Not To Be In It
  • Angelina Jolie half - Brad Pitt and their children

Any movie that has scene like this,is worth watching!

Why You Should Watch It?
  • The actions which pack with special effects are quite impressive
  • The story line is solid and has very clear direction (I even don't know what I mean by that), but it also has a twist in the end of it
  • It has kicking ass Angelina Jolie in it (and glimpse of her hot body) - what more could you ask for?
Bluecrystaldude's Rating:

Overall
Nice action packing movie. The special effects are much more better than The Incredible Hulk, and I actually kinda enjoy the film.

David Beckham Blog and New Ride!

>> ENTERTAINMENT

I am sure most of you guys already read or saw the incrediblely huge David Beckham for Armani advertisement last week (read here if you haven't). Then, when David Beckham decided to blog, his first post is about the ads and football/soccer, of course. Oh, and there are pictures of his latest $384000 ride!

"To be honest I was amazed by the huge billboard poster outside Macy’s department store, but even more amazed by the amount of people who turned up to see it! I’m always surprised by the amount of attention certain things create, but the attention this campaign has created is pretty incredible. It was great to meet some of the people who’d come out especially though, I’ve always wanted to visit San Francisco, so it was a great to finally get there..."

David has spoken previously about his shyness in posing for the ads, telling "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno: "I was quite nervous because obviously I knew my wife and friends were going to see it," adding, "And my mom was going to see it." (The ads could also be seen in the August issue of Vanity Fair magazine). He always seems like a nice and humble person. Nothing better than that dude.

Also, David Beckham you could click the slideshow above to see the latest pictures (and other pictures) of him taking his looks alike son (all shaved like his father) in his new $384 000 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe around Beverly Hills. They drove through the streets of Beverly Hills, including the world famous Rodeo Drive. Damn! Some people has it all!Oh, and don't forget to check out David Beckham official blog too.

Slim Colin Farrell

>> ENTERTAINMENT

Actor Colin Farrell looked slim and toned as he showed off his new ultra-thin physique on the beach in Malibu after his dramatic weight loss for a film role. Despite his slender frame, the 32-year-old appeared tanned and healthy as he jogged along the beach yesterday. The Irish heart-throb looked every inch the beach Adonis with his long hair, Celtic tattoos and a sand-covered six-pack.

He is filming his upcoming movie, Triage, in which he plays a war photographer. But, as you could see in those pictures, his 'package' doesn't seems to shrink with her body. Damn! If everyone could be that lucky. I also believe he will be back to the hunk status anytime soon.

Colin James Farrell (born May 31, 1976) is an Irish actor who has appeared in several high-profile Hollywood films including Tigerland, Daredevil, Miami Vice, Minority Report, Phone Booth, Alexander, S.W.A.T and In Bruges. (click here to know more about this actor)

Get Smart

>> MOVIE REVIEW

What It Is About
An adaptation from a cult-classic television comedy series, Get Smart. About spy agents from an agency called CONTROL, who are trying to save the world and US President from being bomb by a criminal syndicate, KAOS. A secret agent story with a comedic twist.

Genre
Comedies, thriller, adaptation

Rating
Rated PG-13 for some rude humor, action violence and language.

Running Time
1 hour 50 minutes

Synopsis
Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is on a mission to thwart the latest plot for world domination by the evil crime syndicate known as KAOS. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief (Alan Arkin) has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreamt of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23 (Dwayne Johnson). Smart is partnered instead with the lovely-but-lethal veteran Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). Given little field experience and even less time, Smart-armed with nothing but a few spy-tech gadgets and his unbridled enthusiasm-must thwart the doomsday plans of KAOS head Siegfried (Terence Stamp). - © Warner Bros.

Bottom Line
I never saw the original TV series Get Smart. Thus, I cannot complained about the difference of those two. However, some said that the director seems to be torn between following to the original story and making it as it own. The result is an awkward straddling of the two.

Bonus
  • Anne Hathaway is beautiful than ever (and very sexy)
  • The scene at the dance hall is awesome!
  • Steve Carell has not disappointing me yet
Overall
It was like watching Inspector Gadget+Inspector Clouseau (from Pink Panther)+James Bond get together. Very funny with adequate action moves made the movie quite enjoyable. We laugh, we cry we laugh again and we awe in between scene. Definitely as my expectation. Enjoy it and just have a good time with your friends.

David Beckham Advertistment

>> ENTERTAINMENT

Photo: Slideshow

People all around are making lots of fuss about the latest ads by David Beckham for Armani underwear. Not just San Francisco where the advert was displayed, but the heat from it could be felt around the globe. The main question remain is, whether or not the photo is strategically stuffed, which some even said by the last turkey stuffing, by a sock (make it two) or Photoshop just make it wonder yet again.

The Sun frantically follows up this story by adding a live witness' statement, quote,
"San Francisco hasn’t seen anything like this for years. There were thousands of girls there to see David and his new Armani ad. And they were all going crazy. They were screaming and pushing each other to try and get a closer look. When the ad was unveiled, there was a collective ‘ooh’ before the screams started again. Seriously, it was like Beatlemania scenes. David thought it was funny."

The invasion of David's and his family to America continue. Football soccer, entertainment, paparazzi and now a bigger than life ads. I am sure there are more to come.

A Disappointing Green?

What It Is About:
A green man sequel who was in search for a cure to his greenness which in the end save the world by defeating a ruthless-green-wannabe. Oh, and it was based on the Marvel comic book.

Genre:
Action, Fantasy, Sci-fi

Rating:
PG-13 - for sequences of intense action violence, some frightening sci-fi images, and brief suggestive content

Running Time:
1 hour 54 minutes

Synopsis:
The Incredible Hulk kicks off an all-new, explosive and action-packed epic of one of the most popular Super Heroes of all time. In this new beginning, scientist Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) desperately hunts for a cure to the gamma radiation that poisoned his cells and unleashes the unbridled force of rage within him: The Hulk. Living in the shadows--cut off from a life he knew and the woman he loves, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler)--Banner struggles to avoid the obsessive pursuit of his nemesis, General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), and the military machinery that seeks to capture him and brutally exploit his power. As all three grapple with the secrets that led to The Hulk's creation, they are confronted with a monstrous new adversary known as The Abomination (Tim Roth), whose destructive strength exceeds even The Hulk's own. And on June 13, 2008, one scientist must make an agonizing final choice: accept a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or find heroism in the creature he holds inside--The Incredible Hulk. - IGN

Bottom Line:
  • The CGI effects sometimes look off - especially when the battle with the Abomination monster at the end of the movie. Definitely not as good as Iron Man nor as cute as Kung Fu Panda. In other word, it was a bit disappointing for a summer blockbuster.
  • Not sure if The Incredible Hulk could give a strong fight in the battle of summer movies.

Bonus:
  • It is far much better than the Ang Lee's Hulk (2003) installment which I barely remember the plot and story. Not to mention that my friend has snoozed out half of the movie and snoring in my ears. This time around, all three of us are still alive and kicking when we got out from the cinema.
  • Although the opening premier is lesser than the first Hulk, the movie is all time 6th best opening for a non-sequel comic book adaptation and the best opening for Edward Norton and French 's director, Louis Leterrier (according to Fantasy Moguls).
  • A nice way to promote green products to children and adult alike.
  • Love the scene when Bruce and Betty try to make love but Bruce has to stop it because he doesn't want "to get too excited". Oh well, not all superheroes are perfect!

Not Likely To Be In It:
A love scene. But you could see (barely) Edward Nortan's naked ass.

Overall:
It was okay for me but not great. Love the story line, hate the graphics. Lobe the imperfections of Hulk (clumsy and emotional conflict) but hate the loud and unnecessary sound effects especially during the battle. Overall, seeing a steroid-enhanced-bigger-than-life-and-green superheroes is not a bad way to spend my otherwise dull Thursday morning.

  • THR.com - "The confrontation between the Incredible Hulk and the Abomination is a CGI pig-out, so all contact with story or characters is lost. But the film has built up enough good will to withstand this third-act letdown."
  • Examiner.com - 2 stars "Hulk isn't incredible."

Kicking Butts Panda

Kung Fu Panda

What It Is About?
A kung fu-obsessed, steamed-dumplings and almond-cookie-devouring panda finds himself mistakenly chosen to be the "Dragon Warrior." It'll be his job to save his home from the unstoppable power and wrath of the vengeful tiger Tai Lung.

Genre:
Animation, Comedy

Rating:
PG for sequences of martial arts action

Running Time:
92 minutes

Synopsis:
Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po is the biggest fan of Kung Fu around, …which doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five--Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey--under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart - and his girth - into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.

Bottom Line:
  • The kung fu actions seems familiar or have been seen before (Duh, like we care)

Bonus:
  • I never been quite a Jack Black's fan. Okay, although I like his character in The Holiday (when he's less funny), he always seems to be in the same character from movie to movie. Surprisingly, I love and want to hug him (my curious self wanted to know if I could reach both of my arms around his body) in this movie and I am not even gay. Thanks for being the cutest panda ever, seriously (compared to his bearded face) and I love the scene when he was trying to find foods to eat because "I love to eat when I am depressed" - how real is that? We love too Po!
  • All the miniature of the characters definitely will be sold out in an hour! (they already released a Kung Fu Panda's game for PlayStation 3 - check it out here)

Not Likely To Be In It:
Po ending up married with Tigeress (Angelina Jolie)

Overall:
Grab your friends, brothers and sisters and go cramping the cinema now. That is an order!

A Smelly Onion

The Onion Movie (only in DVD, Thank God)

What it is about?
The Onion is an American "fake news" organization. It features satirical articles reporting on international, national, and local news as well as an entertainment newspaper and website known as The A.V. Club. Genre:

Rating:
View content advisory for parents - Male Rear Nudity

Running Time:
90 minutes

Synopsis:
Venerable newscaster Norm Archer (Len Cariou) reports the latest news in politics, health, culture and entertainment - such as an automotive recall of decapitation-inducing "neckbelts" and a study finding that "depression hits losers hardest." The compilation of bogus news stories, celebrity profiles and movie trailers comes courtesy of the ace satirists at The Onion. The film's most intriguing credit? Steven Seagal as Cock Puncher.

Teens Turning Back | (funnier version than the movie) The Onion

Bottom Line:

  • It plays on (and sometimes cross) the line of racist, sexual exploitation, gay issues and handicaps. You must always keep it close to your mind that this is a fake news
  • The funniness of it just last for a few second. You want to laugh but before you know it already not funny anymore
  • It fills with stupidity. Enough said
Bonus:
  • Featuring a pop stars who songs and videos are indeed eye catching and quite enjoyable. Songs included: Make Love from Behind (doggy style) and Down On My Knees (blow job). Although she said she doesn't think that her songs are sexually provocative as it seems in her clip videos
Not Likely To Be In It:
A real news

Overall:
The film was filmed in 2003 but was postponed as the test audiences hated it. One review even said, "THE ONION MOVIE is basically an uncut, uncensored version of SNL or Mad TV. And to be honest, probably the worst episode of each mixed into a blender and then multiplied by ten." and he even wanted "to poke my eyes out." That being said, do visit their Onion News Network, where they knew the best way to deliver it - in short videos with cynical dialogs.

Party, Sex, Gamble and Married in Vegas

What Happen In Vegas

What it is about?

Two strangers awaken together to discover that they have gotten married following a night of debauchery in Vegas. . . and that one of them has won a huge jackpot after playing the other's quarter. The newlyweds devise ever-escalating schemes to undermine each other and get their hands on the money - only to find themselves falling in love amidst the mutual backstabbing.

Genre:
Romantic comedy

Rating:
PG-13 for some crude sexual content, and language, including a drug reference

Running time:
1 hour, 39 minutes

Synopsis:
The story is about Joy (Cameron Diaz) who is a Wall Street workaholic and obsessive planner, and Jack (Ashton Kutcher) who can't keep a job even his father is the boss. Trying to forgot their own personal problem (did I mention that Joy was dumped by her fiancé, in a hallway as guests waiting to surprise him for his birthday? What a surprise indeed) they went to Las Vegas (at the beginning separately, of course) with each of their best friend. They ended up with partying, sex, married and gambling, in that order. They then won a 3 million dollars jackpot and had to try to resolve their married for 6 months. After all the drama and backstabbing, which include wild party, strippers, overly disgusting behaviors - like eating popcorn taken out directly from inside his pajama's pant, they finally happy together.

What Happens In Vegas Stays in Vegas | Evelyn Boksebeld

Bottom Line:
  • A readable story line
  • A perfectly sculpture from romantic comedy mold
  • Queen Latifah (as their marriage counselor) adds nothing to the spice
Bonus:
  • Although Diaz is not as funny as Jessica Alba in Good Luck Chuck, Kutcher and Diaz is indeed a great couple together
  • The movie was funny mainly due to Jack's best bud, Hater (Rob Corddry) and Joy's best pal, Tipper (Lake Bell) dialogs and actions
  • For pervert normal people out there, you could see Kucther in his boxer and Diaz in her bra - nice (evil grin)
Not Likely To Be In It:
Kutcher and Diaz having sex. I can't believe the director forget to add this scene. Who knows that they may even be nominated in Oscar because of the scene?

Overall:
Not worth watching it in cinema as you will soon forgot about it as you step out form the theater. My advice: just grab or download this movie and enjoy it with couple of friends.
